What we do
East Potential is a social and economic regeneration charity and a subsidiary of East Thames Group. It works across East London and Essex to empower local people to create a brighter future for themselves and make a contribution within their communities.

It does this through a broad range of programmes for young people, families and adults, including employment and training services, arts and culture initiatives, children’s centres, and health and sustainable living projects. We aim to raise aspirations, promote community pride and cohesion, and give people a chance to succeed.
Services we provide
Foyers
We are the largest provider of foyer accommodation in the UK, accommodating nearly 500 homeless and vulnerable young people.

Our foyers are based at:

  • Newham
  • Harlow
  • Redbridge
  • Tower Hamlets

This includes the largest foyer in the country, Focus E15, which houses over 200 young people.

All our foyers provide accommodation, as well as personal development, guidance and job opportunities to young people aged 16 and over.
We also provide ‘Time for Youth’ a programme which is an intensive support service for young people living in east London and Essex, who have offended or are likely to offend.
East Potential has an annual turnover approaching £10m and employs around 200 staff.

East Potential is a subsidiary of East Thames Group.

Neighbourhood Regeneration
Key to our work is helping residents achieve their ambitions. Through our employment, training and business enterprise scheme, residents are able to build confidence and skills, and pursue their goals.

Arts, culture, sports and health related projects also have a big part to play in the way we work. With initiatives ranging from the Troika arts programme to involvement in a national five a-side football tournament.

Encouraging participation, the Community Involvement Team is responsible for the Residents Advisory Group, which provides advice and feedback on Group-wide services.

It also organises community-based events, including a year round activities programme which benefits some 3,000 young people each year.

East Potential also works to ensure the organisation plays its part in delivering the Olympic Legacy, and sustainable neighbourhoods.
East Thames Group's mission is:
to make a positive and lasting contribution to the neighbourhoods in which we work.
